How Lena Grigoleit became the voice of the multi-ethnic region

Can one person resemble a whole region, one timespan even? When the German journalist Ulla Lachauer found the old farming lady Lena Grigoleit, born as a Prussian turned into a Lithuanian, it was like  winning the jackpot of a lottery. A supposingly ordinary woman, who was the last one of her kind – a unicorn. She resembles the old Memelland, “Little Lithuania”, like no other person. So she wrote about her story: Paradiesstraße. Interview with author Ulla Lachauer about a unique witness of a time of peasantry wisdom in Little Lithuania.
